I/W/B/W Assignment

The internet. Everyone has heard of it, and just about everyone with access uses it on a daily basis. Without it, our society would not be running the way that it is. The internet is defined as "a worldwide system of computer networks -- a network of networks in which users at any one computer can, if they have permission, get information from any other computer". In the mid 1960s, the interned was developed as a resource for government officials to share and gather information. Now, the internet is used for a wide variety of different tasks such as business, research, shopping, AI development, and so many endless possibilites.

The World Wide Web (WWW) is an information system of websites and web-based applications that are connected to each other through the use of links and more specific hyperlinks. It was created in 1989 by a computer scientist named Sir Tim Berners-Lee while working at CERN in Switzerland. He developed the web as a way to easily share scientific documents and data with other researchers, hence the name World Wide Web. Originally, the web was used as a way for scientists to share research and collaborate on projects. Today, the WWW is used in a variety of differnet ways, from communication to commerce, entertainment, and more.

The world wide web and the internet are similar because they both provide a basic connectivity across networks. The internet is the physical connection made up of cables and routers that allow data to be transferred and connect computer networks. The world wide web is the technology that exists on top of the internet, providing users with a way to access, share and interact with websites and services on the internet. The web and the internet basically go hand-in-hand. The first website was created on August 6, 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN). The website URL is:://info.cern.ch

Hedy Lamarr (born 1914-2000) was an Austrian-American actor and inventor. She was originally known for her acting in the 1930s and 40s, but she also developed very innovative inventions in the field of communication and information technology later in her life, including basically wifi & bluetooth today. That invention is the basis of today's wifi, Bluetooth, and other technologies that enable wireless communication. There is a song about her recently put out by Johnny Depp and people are trying to understand the maning behind the song and how it could relate to his personal life.

Bluetooth was developed by Jaap Haartsen at Ericsson in 1994. Haartsen was given the task of finding a technology to replace cables to connect computers and other forms of technology hardware. He named it Bluetooth after the 10th century Danish king Harald Bluetooth. The Bluetooth logo was created by Jim Kardach, who was a branding strategist. He chose the logo to represent the ancient Nordic analogy King Harald used to unify the tribes of Scandinaviahail meaningunite andbluetooth referring to Harald. The logo consists of ahail rune within a bind rune combining a ScandinavianH andB letters within a blue circle to represent the unification of technology.

Wifi was developed in 1997 by the Wi-Fi Alliance, which was formed in 1999 by computer firms including Apple, Microsoft, Intel, and Cisco. The original name for wifi wasWireless Fidelity orWi-Fi. The name was chosen because it is a play on the technical termHi-Fi which stands forhigh fidelity, which basically means high quality sound. The word wifi was made to sound more friendly and less technical than "high-fidelity", and thus further helping to make it more accessible to the public.
