Animation

 






This animation is an exploration in motion and color. The motion of the basketball as it moves through space and time is a representation of energy as it is released resulting in a graceful culmination as the basketball finds its home in the hoop. The colors used in the animation work in concert with the motion of the ball, creating a visual symphony of movement and vibrancy. The project was very difficult to figure out where to position each part of the image and how many frames to use etc... but once I got the hang of it I could figure out where everything needed to be.

 I chose this image (selfie) because it was taken during a very good time in my life and what is going on in the uncropped image is a great representation of who I am as a person. I also chose vaping because it is personal for me. I used to struggle with that and I had serious health affects as a result of vaping. I think when an artist can relate to their work, it makes the passion heightened and results in better work.

 Artist Statement:  I wanted to base my calligram specifically off what is going on in my life right now as I am doing the project. Senior year of high school was a very low point for me, and I felt extremely grown out of my hometown and the people in it. As stated in my letter to my future self, moving to Tampa has changed my life. I feel like I have found myself and found a new home at the same time, and that is the absolute best feeling ever. I truly feel more at home here than I do when I go back to my hometown. While my past and childhood are extremely dear and important to me, I continue to view living here in Tampa as a new opportunity that generates excitement for me every single day to look forward to what things may come my way in the future. I feel like my calligram really represents this story and what it means to me.   When assigned to place myself into a scene of a movie/show using adobe photoshop, this was almost an immediate and easy decision to do the show "Outer Banks" . I have always loved this show and felt very connected with the characters and their lifestyle in the movie because I have spent a lot of time throughout my life in the OBX. Placing myself into this scene felt natural for me because I am always happiest at the beach or by the water and with my friends and this is exactly the vibe of the scene shot that I used for this project.
